This 2023 1 oz Gold Kangaroo is a gold bullion coin produced by Australia’s Perth Mint. Each coin weighs 1 troy ounce and has a gold purity of 99.99%.
The Australian Kangaroo bullion coin series has been minted by the Perth Mint since 1986 and has become one of the most respected investment bullion coin series in the world.
The obverse of the 2023 1 oz Gold Kangaroo coin features a kangaroo looking over its shoulder with a eucalyptus and grass trees in the background. The imagery includes a small ‘P’ mint mark to the left signifying Perth. Inscribed at the top are the words ‘AUSTRALIAN KANGAROO’, and below, the coin’s year, weight and gold purity ‘2023 1oz 9999 GOLD’.
The reverse face of the Gold Kangaroo features a head portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, the official head of state of Australia, and the coin’s face value of ‘100 dollars’. The 1 oz Gold Kangaroo bullion coin is produced in an unlimited mintage.
In addition to the 1 oz gold bullion coin, the Australian gold Kangaroo is also minted in weights of 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, 1/10 oz, and the very large 1 kilo Gold Kangaroo.
The Perth Mint, located in Australia’s famous gold mining district, is both a mint and refinery, and is fully owned by the Government of Western Australia.
